The Fungi Song - Science Class Heroes (Biology Project)

All of the music and lyrics you hear are completely original. Music and video were produced, and edited by Sean Meier. LYRICS: (Verse 1 – Zygomycota and Chytridiomycota) Cover your bread ’cause the fungi’s in town And the big black beast’s spores are stickin around Thick walls like a fortress, resistant to attack Domestic decomposers really know where it’s at Spreading like a plague from your garden to grass Look out for these dung residing herbivore snacks They could come back to haunt you if you throw them aside No matter what this fungi phyla will come out alive And chytridiomycota is almost the same Except theyre smaller, less exciting, and really just pretty lame And they live in the water just like a fish or sea lion You’ll find the cell wall of Chytrids is made completely of chitin, no lyin’ 1000 species of these small little fellas Is a pretty large amount for having tiny flagella To move around and get down except theres no need for that With motile spores they could just chill and relax… (Chorus) Mushrooms and fungi They live all around With four different phylum You’ve seen ‘em in town Zygo, bisidio, asco, chytridio Can even get you high when you’re stuck on the ground From kingdom to phyla To class to order To family to genus To species You sort em Faster than rabbits Reproduce from their spores You’d be surprised that the number of phylum is only 4 (Verse 2 – Ascomycota and Bisidiomycota) Largest fungi phyla is the ascomycota With over 60000 species
